Faculty of Engineering - Tanta University
Prof. Mohammed Sakr has played a pivotal role in advancing engineering education and research at Tanta University, fostering innovation and excellence in structural engineering disciplines.
Professor Sakr began his academic career at Tanta University in 1990, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Excellent with Honors. He ranked first in his class. He holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Bratislava in the Slovak Republic. He progressed through academic positions until he reached the position of Professor in 2017.
Research and Practical Contributions:
Professor Sakr's research interests cover a wide range of areas in structural engineering. He has published more than 72 scientific papers in prestigious Q1 and Q2 scientific journals and has supervised 19 Master's theses and 4 Doctoral dissertations. He has also reviewed more than 80 research papers in prestigious scientific journals.
His research focuses on using innovative materials and technologies to enhance the safety and durability of infrastructure, including :
- Strengthening and Rehabilitation of Concrete Structures:
- Use of composite materials such as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) to strengthen and rehabilitate beams, columns, and shear walls.
- Use of Ultra-High-Performance-Concrete (UHPC) in strengthening and rehabilitating concrete structures and improving their seismic performance.
- Rehabilitation of damaged concrete structures.
- Behaviour of Concrete Structures:
- Study the behaviour of structural elements under different loads.
- Analysis of structural elements using the finite element method.
- Study the impact of environmental factors on concrete structures.
- Reinforced Concrete Structures:
